Bihar Politics: NDA's Nitish government in Bihar has to pass the floor test on 12th February. Amid RJD's claim of being 'gamed', almost all the parties are alert and are busy saving their MLAs. JDU is organizing a banquet for its MLAs so that all the MLAs can be united. At the same time, RJD is also calling MLAs every day on 5 Circular Road.

Congress, which is part of the grand alliance, has already shifted 16 of its 19 MLAs to Hyderabad. Leaders of any party are not speaking openly on this issue. But all the parties are busy saving their MLAs. The ruling JDU has made it clear that their MLAs are being lured. In such a situation, JDU is quite suspicious.

Struggle over the post of Assembly Speaker

On the other hand, amid the barricade of MLAs, there is a tussle going on for the post of Assembly Speaker. The ruling coalition wants the Speaker of the Assembly to be removed from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) quota before the floor test, while the Speaker himself is in no mood to leave his post anytime soon. In such a situation, there is a fear of being played here. The apprehension has intensified after the statement given by the speaker. Hence NDA has also come into action.

Speaker Avadh Bihari Choudhary from RJD quota has made his intention clear. Citing the rules, he said that after receiving the notice, he has the right to remain in his post for 14 days. In such a situation, political turmoil has intensified regarding how long will Awadh Bihari Chaudhary remain on the post of Speaker. It is being said that Awadh Bihari Chaudhary will not leave his post before 21st February under any circumstances. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari from Janata Dal United (JDU) quota claims that before the floor test on February 12, a no-confidence motion will be presented against Awadh Bihari Chaudhary and he will have to resign from his post.

Deadlock over Speaker's resignation?

It is being claimed by the NDA that as soon as the Grand Alliance government fell, the notice for the removal of the Speaker was given by the NDA MLAs on January 28. Therefore, he will have to resign on February 12, otherwise he will be removed from his post through a no-confidence motion. Whereas Awadh Bihari Chaudhary is saying that he will receive the notice through the Secretary on 7th February. Therefore the matter is becoming complicated.

According to Awadh Bihari Chaudhary, there is a provision in the law for him to remain in office despite the no-confidence motion against him before 21st February. It is believed that RJD will bring a proposal regarding voting in the House with the help of these rules and in case of absence of some MLAs, RJD will go to the Governor and stake claim to form the government by citing minority government.
