Manik Saha will be the next Chief Minister of Tripura. Biplab Deb had resigned at 4:30 pm on Saturday. But, sources say that Amit Shah had made it clear in the meeting held a day earlier that he wants to enter the election with a new face.

Manik Saha is Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP. According to sources, the name of Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Verma was also in discussion in the race for CM. Elections are to be held in Tripura in February 2023. After Biplav's resignation, BJP has appointed Bhupendra Yadav and Vinod Tawde as observers. Legislature party meeting will start at 8 pm tonight.

The new Chief Minister will be decided only in terms of preparations for the 2023 elections. This time, the party is planning to go to the public on development works, moving away from the popular slogan 'Chalo Paltai' of the last time.
