Agartala. Tripura BJP unit president Manik Saha will be the next chief minister of the state. After Biplab Deb stepped down as Tripura Chief Minister on Saturday, state unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Manik Saha was appointed to the post after a legislature party meeting. Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, who arrived there as a central observer after Rajya Sabha MP Manik Saha was elected leader of the legislature party, congratulated him. Yadav said, “Many congratulations to Manik Saha on being elected the leader of Tripura BJP Legislature Party. I am sure that Tripura will reach new heights of development under the guidance and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Saturday suddenly met Governor SN Arya and submitted his resignation to him. Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, who arrived in Agartala as a central observer for the selection of the new leader, and senior leader and party's national general secretary Vinod Tawde attended the legislature party meeting. Apart from these two leaders, BJP MP and Tripura in-charge Vinod Sonkar was also present in this meeting. Manik Saha's name was unanimously approved in the BJP Legislature Party meeting, after which it was decided that he would be the next Chief Minister of Tripura.

What did Biplab Deb say after resigning?

After resigning from the chief minister's post, Deb told reporters, "The party is at the top. I am a loyal worker of BJP. I hope that I have done justice to the responsibility given, whether it is the post of state BJP unit president or the post of Chief Minister of Tripura. I worked for the overall development of Tripura and ensured that there is peace for the people of the state." “Elections are coming up in the year 2023 and the party wants the responsible convener to take charge here. Government can be formed only when the organization is strong. Somebody will definitely become the chief minister after the elections."

Biplab Deb was the first CM of BJP in Tripura

It is noteworthy that after defeating the 25-year-old Left Front government in Tripura, the BJP registered a thumping victory in the year 2018, after which Deb was made the Chief Minister. There were speculations that there was a tussle going on in the BJP unit of Tripura. Deb also went to New Delhi on Thursday to discuss the party's affairs in Tripura with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda.
