New Delhi. A 39-year-old man in Delhi tried to commit suicide by sharing a live video on Facebook, but the social media company alerted the Delhi Police in time from the US, after which the police saved the man's life. This information was given by the officials on Saturday. Sohan Lal (name changed), a resident of Dwarka in West Delhi, sustained several serious injuries on his hand after a dispute with neighbors. Lal works in a sweet shop and has two young children. He told that since the death of his wife in 2016, his financial condition is weak.A senior police officer said that he injured himself after a dispute with the neighbours. While doing so, he made it live on Facebook. In the midst of all these incidents, CYPad's DCP Anesh Rai received a call from Facebook's US office that a man in Delhi was posting a live video of himself allegedly harming on Facebook. Police said the company raised the alert as part of coordination between Delhi Police's nodal cyber unit 'Cyber Prevention Awareness and Research (CYPad)' and international social media platforms.The police investigated the account shared by Facebook, the official said. The mobile number associated with the account was switched off. Later the police obtained the address linked to the mobile number which was found in Dwarka. The nearest emergency response vehicle and its in-charge sub-inspector Amit Kumar reached the spot and traced the man who was on the verge of suicide, police said. When Kumar reached the place, he found the man in a very bad condition on the stairs as he had lost a lot of blood.The man was rushed to a nearby hospital and later to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, the official said. He said his condition is said to be stable.
