According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), a strong cold wave is expected in Delhi after January 26. IMD senior scientist RK Jenamani said that there is no chance of rain but cold winds will continue.

He also said that there is no chance of rain in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana till February 2 and the Western Disturbance has moved further eastwards. According to the statement of the Meteorological Department, there may be a drop in temperature by three to five degrees in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan for the next five days.

On January 25 and 26, light to moderate fog will prevail over East India during morning and night hours. At the same time, light to moderate rain can be recorded in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala between January 28 and 30. Sikar recorded the lowest temperature of 4 degrees Celsius in plains on Monday.

Chills will increase this week

After the end of the activity of Western Disturbance in the capital, now the period of cold winter has started. On Monday, the maximum temperature dropped by seven degrees to 14.8 Celsius, marking a record cold day. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days and has predicted a cold day. At the same time, there is no hope of getting relief from the cold for a week.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the high humidity level in the air and low mercury, there was a moderate level of fog from the roads to the airstrip in the morning. The visibility level was recorded at 600 to 800 metres. The humidity level in the air ranged from 74 to 100 percent. The minimum temperature was recorded at eight degrees Celsius, above normal. It was sunny in the morning.

Due to the cloudy days, the sightings of the Sun God were intermittent. People resorted to heaters and bonfires to escape the cold. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days in the midst of severe cold. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature is likely to remain 16 and the minimum temperature is 7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is likely to drop by 6 degrees Celsius within the next three days.

Severe level of cold recorded in standard centers

Due to high fog level and cloudy weather, severe cold has been recorded at various standard centers in Delhi. The minimum temperature in Narela was recorded at 5.6 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature at Palam Standard Center was 14.8 and the minimum was 9.4 degrees Celsius. Lodi Road recorded 14.9 and 8, Ridge area 14 and 6.5, Aya Nagar 14.8 and minimum 7.8 and Narela maximum 13.5 degrees Celsius.

Air and train services affected due to fog

Due to rain and dense fog on railway tracks in North India, train operations are facing difficulties. On Monday also around 33 trains were delayed and flights of 100 aircraft were affected. Most of these trains are from New Delhi to UP, Bihar, Mumbai, Amritsar, West Bengal and Assam. Along with trains, the flight of planes is also being affected.

NOTAM is applicable due to full dress rehearsal. Due to frequent delays in trains, the Railways has advised the passengers to reach the station only after knowing the time table of their train before traveling. On Monday, around 33 trains were engulfed in fog. Mainly the Bandra-Katra Swaraj Express was delayed by five hours.

Similarly, Yesvantpur-Lucknow Express was delayed by 2.5 hours while Varanasi-Anand Vihar Garib Rath also reached 2.5 hours late. Apart from this, many trains including Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani, Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi, Gaya-Anand Vihar, Magadh Express, Mumbai-Nizamuddin Rajdhani, Ranchi Rajdhani, Chennai Rajdhani, Dibrugarh Rajdhani, Bhopal-New Delhi were delayed by 1 to 3 hours. reached its destination.
