New Delhi : The old excise policy has been implemented in Delhi from today. Very little stock of liquor was found in government liquor shops on the first day of implementation of the old policy. The shelves of most government liquor shops were seen empty.

People fond of liquor had to return sadly from liquor shops. They could not get the liquor of their choice at these government liquor shops. Many liquor customers said that they are remembering the days when they used to get liquor of all brands at big liquor shops. Along with this, they also used to get discounts from liquor shops.

The old excise policy system has returned in Delhi. With this, private liquor shops will not be able to sell liquor. Only government-run liquor shops in Delhi will be able to sell liquor to the people.

Experts said – only 240 shops opened

The Excise Department says that a total of 300 government liquor shops are open in Delhi. But experts on the subject said that only 240 shops opened on the first day of the return of the old policy.

People working in government liquor shops told that we had opened the shops on time but we did not get the stock. Only a few brands of liquor are available. People working at the shop said they expected the stock to rise again in a few days.

Narendra Kumar, in-charge of a government liquor shop, said that usually the liquor shops are crowded, but today the shop is empty. He told that after seeing the crowd, it is known that there is a liquor shop in front but due to lack of stock, the entire shop is empty.

Excise officials said that trouble will continue for the first few days. Liquor supply and brand availability will improve in the coming days. Arrangements have been made to stock more than 40 lakh liquor bottles. He said that soon this problem would be over.
