Delhi Govt: There is good news for the people living in the national capital Delhi. Their electricity bill is now going to be zero and the reason behind this is the new policy of Kejriwal government. The name of this policy is ‘Delhi Solar Policy 2024’. With its implementation, the electricity bill of all the families of Delhi will be zero. Commercial and industrial consumers will also benefit from this policy. Their electricity bill will be reduced to half.

What is Delhi Solar Policy?

In 2016, the Kejriwal government had announced the Delhi Solar Policy 2016, under which people have installed solar panels of about 250 MW capacity on the roofs of their houses. Under the Solar Policy 2016, about 1500 MW solar power has been installed so far in Delhi.

If a consumer buys a 2 kilowatt roof top solar panel, his total cost will be Rs 90 thousand. But after this the consumer's electricity bill will be zero. During this period, he will also start saving Rs 1370 per month. Not only this, Delhi government will also give generation based incentive of Rs 700, due to which the consumer can save additional Rs 700.

How will the bill come to zero for 25 years?

By saving 2 thousand rupees every month in the above mentioned manner, the consumer will save 24 thousand rupees in a year and 90 thousand rupees will also be recovered in 4 years. The average lifespan of a solar panel is 25 years, which means the consumer's electricity will be free for 25 years.

CM Arvind Kejriwal has said that a solar portal is also being created to provide all the information about Delhi Solar Policy 2024 at one place. Delhi government is going to spend Rs 570 crore on the implementation of this policy.
