T20 World Cup | David Miller, popularly known as Killer Miller (23 not out off 13 balls) stunned Vanindu Hasaranga's hat-trick against Sri Lanka in Group-1 of the Super 12 Stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against South Africa today in a thrilling match. Won by four wickets. This is South Africa's second win in three matches in this tournament and now they have four points and are third in their group in the table. South Africa's hopes of reaching the semi-finals are yet to come, while the road ahead for Sri Lanka has become very difficult after the defeat. The team has got the second defeat in three matches.

Sri Lanka scored a challenging total of 142 runs in 20 overs on the back of a brilliant half-century from Pathum Nisanka of 72 runs. After this Hasaranga's hat-trick gave Sri Lanka the hope of victory, but in the last over, David Miller hit two consecutive sixes to give victory to South Africa. South Africa made a thrilling victory by scoring 146 for six in 19.5 overs.

Captain Temba Bavuma (46 runs off 46 balls) and Tabrez Shamsi (3 for 17) and Dwayne Pretorius (17 runs in 3 overs) also contributed to South Africa's victory. With this win, South Africa also wiped out Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nisanka's excellent half-century and a hat-trick by leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga (3 for 20).

South Africa needed 41 runs in the last four overs but scoring runs was not easy. In such a situation, Bavuma raised hopes by hitting a six over midwicket but on the first ball of the next over of Hasaranga, Nisanka caught him at 'Cow Corner'. Hasranga completed his hat-trick by getting Pretorius caught at long on. Hasaranga is the third bowler to complete a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. Before him, Brett Lee (2007) of Australia and Curtis Camper (2021) of the Netherlands did this feat. Miller and Rabada, however, foiled Hasranga's efforts.
