Coronavirus / Delhi govt declares cinema halls, malls, metro 'super spreader' areas

New-Delhi: In wake of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases. the Delhi Government on Wednesday declared cinema halls, malls, metro and religious place as super spreader’ areas. All the District Magistrate (DM)s have been instructed to increase surveillance in areas.

On Tuesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) ordered that there will be no public celebrations in the national capital for upcoming festivals such Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Navaratri, informed Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev  and directed authorities to ensure strict compliance of the order.

The development comes after the national capital reported 1,101 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest in over three months, while four people succumbed to the disease during the same period.  the total count of cases in the city has gone up to 6,49,973 including 4,411 active cases and 6,34,595 recoveries.

Earlier today, India reported 47,262 new COVID-19 cases, 23,907 recoveries and 275 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
