Weather Update: The winter season continues in North India including the country's capital Delhi. Delhi is freezing in severe winter. According to the Meteorological Department, Haryana, Delhi, northern Rajasthan, western and eastern Madhya Pradesh, western UP and Bihar are in the grip of cold wave. Where there is snowfall in the hilly areas, there is dense fog in the plains. Due to low visibility in the capital, the indicators are also looking breathless. Due to dense fog, the speed of vehicles has stopped. Severe cold will continue in North India for the next 48 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Delhi, UP, Punjab.

Highest fog of the season in Delhi

Meteorologist breaks records in Delhi-NCR, it is getting cold. According to RK Janamani, senior scientist of the India Meteorological Department, tonight it will be cold in Delhi and the temperature will be around 3-4 degrees. He said, there was dense fog in Delhi last night. Dense fog prevailed at the IGI airport from 2.30 am till 11.30 am, which is the longest fog of the season.

Severe cold wave in the capital

According to the Meteorological Department, Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius, which is the lowest temperature of this season. Severe cold wave conditions are still prevailing at most places and very low temperatures are being recorded for the last four days.

school closed till 15 january

Due to the outbreak of cold wave in Delhi, the winter vacation in private schools has been extended till January 15. The Directorate of Education (DOE) has given information about it by issuing a notification. Private schools in Delhi were to open on January 9 after the winter break. Apart from this, in view of the harsh winter, the remedial classes running in Delhi government schools have also been ordered to be closed. At the same time, for the session 2022-23, the work of practical exam, project assessment and internal assessment of 10th and 12th class will go on as per schedule.

Visibility reduced due to fog in these cities

According to IMD, at 5.30 am today visibility is 0 meters in Bathinda, 25 meters in Amritsar and 25 meters each in Ambala, 50 meters in Hisar, 25 meters in Delhi (Safdarjung), 50 meters in Delhi (Palam), Uttar Pradesh-Agra. -0 meter, Lucknow (Amausi) -0 meter has been recorded. Wherein Varanasi (Babatpur)-25 meters, Bareilly-50 meters, visibility in Bahraich-50 meters, Prayagraj-50 meters; Bhagalpur-25 meters of Bihar, Purnia and Gaya-50-50 meters, Patna-50 meters were recorded.

Red and orange alert issued in these states

There is bone-chilling cold in the country from the mountains to the plains. The Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for the next 48 hours in many parts of the country. Red alert has been issued in the country's capital Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, Orange Alert has been issued in Rajasthan, Bihar. Dense to very dense fog will occur over these areas.

Fog stopped the speed, life affected

According to the Meteorological Department, over 480 trains have been affected due to the foggy conditions. According to a railway official, around 335 trains are running late due to fog, while 88 have been cancelled. Apart from this, the route of 31 trains has been changed. At least 25 flights were delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday morning.
