A significant decline has been recorded in the popularity of US President Donald Trump. According to a fresh survey, his overall approval rating has dropped to 37 percent, while 66 percent of American citizens are dissatisfied with his economic policies. This survey was conducted jointly by the Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos. This survey is considered highly significant ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November. The survey revealed that Trump's position on economic issues has weakened.
Decline in Economic and Inflation Ratings
In terms of the economy, Trump's rating has fallen by 7 points to 34 percent. His approval rating regarding inflation dropped by 5 points to 27 percent, while his rating on the issue of the cost of living was the lowest at 23 percent. On this issue, 76 percent of people expressed disagreement. The impact of rising fuel prices was also clearly visible on his popularity.
Dissatisfaction with International and Iran Policies
Increasing tensions with Iran have also affected people's trust in Trump. According to the survey, 66 percent of Americans expressed disagreement with his way of handling Iran, while only 33 percent supported it. The survey results clearly indicate that public dissatisfaction with Trump's policies on international issues has also increased.
Immigration and Trust in Political Parties
On the issue of immigration, Trump received relatively better support compared to other subjects. His policies on the US-Mexico border were approved by 45 percent of people, while 54 percent opposed them. This indicates that differences remain in the country on this issue. The survey also found that a large number of American citizens don't trust any political party.
According to the survey, 23 percent of people on the issue of immigration, 27 percent on the economy, 28 percent on crime, and 33 percent on inflation didn't express trust in any party. According to the Washington Post, Trump's overall approval rating was 39 percent in February, which has now dropped to 37 percent, while his disapproval rating has increased to 62 percent. This is the highest level recorded in both of his terms so far. However, his popularity remains strong among Republican Party supporters, where he enjoys approximately 85 percent support.
