It also suggested that now the government should also consider giving exemption from the requirement of masks. He attributed this to widespread vaccination and immunity created by natural infection.

The number of daily infections and deaths in the country is now very less. For this reason, some relaxation can be given by applying mask. On Sunday, 1761 new infected were found in India. This is the lowest in the last 688 days. 127 people have also died. According to government data, the number of active cases at present is 26,240.

Exemption from mask compulsion

Dr. Sanjay Rai, Senior Epidemiologist at AIIMS said, Corona virus is an RNA virus, in which mutation occurs. So far, more than a thousand mutations have occurred, of which five were worrisome.

• India last year unfortunately witnessed a terrible second wave, which has become our strength today. Natural infections give longer and longer immunity. With a severe wave unlikely in the future, the government may exempt masks from mandatory.
• Emphasis on vaccination in the age group of 12 to 18: Dr. NK Arora, President, NTAGI said, most of the people have taken the vaccine, the infection was also widespread, so now the new wave may not come to a serious level. However, we should not reduce the security, as new variants may still come.
• Data from other countries shows that the infection is causing serious illness or death in those who do not take the vaccine or take half the dose.

Pandemic is over from India now

Epidemiological Public Health Specialist Dr. Chandrakant Laharia, even if a new variant comes, there is little chance of a new severe wave in India. Rather, on the basis of the data received from Omicron, we should assume that the epidemic from India is over now. We have found hybrid resistance to natural infection and a large number of vaccine doses in the last three waves.

Up to 90 percent of people have been infected
