The United Nations has issued a warning to India regarding the corona virus. The UN report claimed that 2.4 lakh people died between April and June due to the second wave of corona in India i.e. the delta variant and affected the recovery of the economy. Not only this, the report has warned that a similar situation may arise soon in the coming times.

According to the UN's World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) 2022 report, new waves of infection are coming due to the Omicron variant and its impact on the economies is set to increase. The report said that 2.4 lakh people died in the deadly delta wave in India from April to June.

 The UN report states that if a global approach including vaccine access is not adopted to prevent the spread of infection with the corona virus, the epidemic will remain a threat to the entire world economy. Also, South Asia can face big problems ahead. Here the slow pace of corona vaccination will encourage the new variant to grow more frequently and increase in cases.

Omicron and Corona cases are increasing rapidly in India

According to the Indian Health Ministry, more than 154 crore doses of the vaccine have been administered in India so far. The second wave of corona in India caused havoc. Infections and deaths had increased rapidly in the country. Due to this the health system of the country had also collapsed. Now the cases of Omicron and Corona are increasing rapidly in India.

 This report states that by December 2021, less than 26% of the population in Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh is fully vaccinated. Whereas in Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, more than 64% of the population has got the vaccine.
