The fire at Bhalswa landfill site is still blazing. Due to the smoke spreading from the fire, the problems of the people living in many colonies spread up to three-four km away have increased. Especially old people, children and patients have to struggle for every breath. Forcing some people have been temporarily shifted to the homes of relatives and close friends.

Local people say that the same situation happens here every year, but neither the corporation nor the Delhi government is able to find any solution for this. Local people say that people from around 20 colonies are affected by this. People say that the number of respiratory patients is also increasing continuously in the area.

Sunil, a resident of Shraddhanand Colony, said that fire occurs at the landfill site three to four times every year. After this the life of the people living here becomes difficult. Some people are compelled to go to the house of their relatives or close ones as usual. The rest of the people who do not have any relatives or other relatives are forced to live here in the stifling air.

In such a situation people do not even open the window. Children are also not allowed to leave the house. Another youth, Kunal, said that if the area around Bhalswa area is surveyed, then more respiratory patients will be found here than in other areas. At present, people living in colonies like Shraddhanand Colony, Rajiv Nagar, Mukund Vihar, Mukundpur, Libaspur, Kamalpur, Samta Vihar, Burari and Bhalswa Dairy are facing problems due to the fire.

Eight fire tenders working 24 hours

The fire at the Bhalswa landfill site could not be brought under control even after 24 hours. Apart from the fire department, several teams of the municipal corporation are helping to douse the fire.

Fire department sources say that since the fire has spread to a large part of the landfill site, it may take three to four days to douse it. At present, eight fire tenders are engaged in dousing the fire at three different points.

A senior fire brigade official said the fire was reported at the Bhalswa landfill site at 5.47 pm on Tuesday. At the same time, about a dozen vehicles were sent to the spot. The fire was extinguished till late in the night, but could not be controlled.

In fact, the area of ​​fire is gradually increasing. The height of the landfill site is also high. In such a situation, it is also very difficult for fire engines to reach there. Six JCBs of Municipal Corporation are also working continuously for 24 hours.
