Ganesh Chaturthi 2026: Jaipur Temples Witness Massive Devotee Influx For Ganpati Bappa

Jaipur celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 with immense fervor as devotees flocked to iconic temples like Moti Dungri and Garh Ganesh. Deputy CM Diya Kumari offered prayers for the state's prosperity.

The city of Jaipur, often referred to as Chhoti Kashi, resonated with the chants of Ganpati Bappa Moriya on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on Wednesday morning. From the early hours of the day, a massive surge of devotees was witnessed across all major Ganesh temples in the city, while this influx of worshippers continued unabated from morning until late evening, as people sought the blessings of Lord Ganesha. According to popular belief, a mere glimpse of Ganpati bestows the blessings of intellect, strength, wisdom, and prosperity upon the devotee. On this special day, the residents of the capital city also installed idols of Lord Ganesha at the entrances of their homes, performing elaborate puja and rituals. The deities were adorned with vermilion (Sindoor ka Chola), sacred threads (Janeu), and new ceremonial dresses.

Grand Celebrations at Major Temples

Special prayers and rituals were organized at prominent shrines including the Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple, Nahar Ke Ganesh Temple, Garh Ganesh Temple, and Siddhi Vinayak Ganesh Temple. The idols of Lord Ganesha underwent a ceremonial bath (Abhishek) and were dressed in exquisite new attire. Devotees offered traditional sweets such as Modak, Gud-dhani, and Churma, praying for the well-being and success of their families and the community at large.

The Royal Splendor of Nahar Ke Ganesh Temple

The Nahar Ke Ganesh Temple, known for its ancient heritage, witnessed a unique celebration. The idol of Lord Ganesha here is seated in a Dakshinavarti (right-turning) trunk position and faces the south. For the occasion, the deity was dressed in royal attire, complemented by a magnificent gold crown and gold ear ornaments, while to manage the large crowds, the administration installed barricades on Mount Road for orderly entry. Mahant Jay Sharma of the temple shared that the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha is being celebrated with great pomp. Prior to the main event, a Durva Abhishek was performed on a special idol prepared from ash. He noted that while the deity is seen in a royal form throughout the year, the celebrations began a day earlier with the Sinjara festival, where Mehendi was distributed. On Ganesh Chaturthi, the deity wore a royal dress and a gold crown, and a grand display of 56 Bhog was organized. The evening was marked by vibrant fireworks and band performances.

Historical Significance of Garh Ganesh Temple

Located on the hills of Nahargarh, the Garh Ganesh Temple holds the distinction of being established even before the formal settlement of Jaipur city, while devotees must climb 365 stairs to reach this ancient shrine. A unique feature of this temple is that the idol of Lord Ganesha is depicted without a trunk. Special Churma prasad was distributed among the visitors. It's widely believed that Garh Ganesh is the primary Ganesh Dham of Jaipur, and tradition dictates that devotees should visit this temple before proceeding to other Ganesh shrines in the city.

Devotion at Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple

The Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple, perhaps the most famous in Jaipur, remained the focal point of faith. Long queues of devotees were seen from early morning, stretching all the way to JLN Marg. The idol of Ganpati was seated on a silver throne, adorned with a diamond-studded gold crown and a Naulakha necklace. The police administration remained vigilant to ensure security and smooth movement, with the temple management implementing special barricading systems to handle the thousands of visitors.
