Auspicious Time for Idol Installation
Lord Ganesha’s idol should be installed on Chaturthi Tithi during the auspicious muhurat. In 2025, the favorable time for puja will be from morning till midday. As per the Panchang, consult your local astrologer for the exact timing.
Preparations for Installation
-
Cleaning the House: Before installing the idol, clean the house thoroughly. Choose a clean and elevated place for the puja.
-
Setting the Altar: Place a wooden platform (chowki/pata) and purify it with Gangajal.
-
Cloth and Rice: Spread a clean red or yellow cloth on the platform. Place some rice on it and install Lord Ganesha’s idol over them.
Kalash Installation
Place a Kalash (sacred pot) to the right of Lord Ganesha’s idol. Fill it with water, add a betel nut, some coins, and mango leaves. Place a coconut on top of the Kalash. This Kalash is considered an essential part of the puja and symbolizes prosperity.
