PM Modi Speech: Addressing the nation on the eve of Navratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the GST Savings Festival, which will begin on the first day of Navratri. He extended Navratri greetings to the countrymen and explained that the reduction in GST rates, which will come into effect from the first day of the festival, will reduce the prices of many products. PM Modi has previously announced important decisions such as demonetization (2016) and the COVID lockdown through his addresses to the nation.GST Reforms: Accelerating India's Growth StoryPM Modi said, "GST reforms will further accelerate India's growth story." Referring to the mandate received in 2014, he said that GST was prioritized in the public interest and national interest. Through the joint efforts of the central and state governments, the country was freed from the web of dozens of taxes, and the dream of "One Nation, One Tax" was realized. He said, "Reforms are a continuous process. Next-generation reforms are necessary according to the needs of the time and the country. That is why new GST reforms are being implemented."Call to Adopt SwadeshiThe Prime Minister emphasized the need to promote indigenous products, saying, "We should buy goods that are Made in India, built with the hard work and sweat of our youth." He urged every home to embody Swadeshi and urged shopkeepers to sell indigenous goods. He also appealed to state governments to embrace the resolve of a self-reliant India.Nagarik Devo Bhava and GST ReformsPM Modi reiterated the mantra of "Nagarik Devo Bhava" and said that this will be reflected in the new GST reforms. He stated that the decisions made in income tax and GST over the past year will save citizens more than ₹2.5 lakh crore. He described these reforms as crucial for a self-reliant India.Two GST Slabs: 5% and 18%PM Modi announced that the next-generation GST reforms will come into effect tomorrow, with only two tax slabs of 5% and 18%. This will make everyday items more affordable. 99% of items in the 12% tax slab will now fall under the 5% tax bracket, while many goods and services will become tax-free or significantly cheaper.GST Savings Festival LaunchedThe GST Savings Festival will begin on the first day of Navratri, benefiting everyone, including the poor, middle class, farmers, and women. PM Modi said, "Your savings will increase, and you will be able to buy things easily." This festival is a major step towards a self-reliant India.Message also given after Operation SindoorEarlier, in his address to the nation after Operation Sindoor, PM Modi praised the bravery of the soldiers and gave a clear message to the world that India will not tolerate nuclear blackmail. He also spoke about taking a tough stand against terrorists and their patrons.
