Gwalior Police Forms SIT To Find Missing Laddu Gopal Idol, 3 Stations Involved

In a rare move, Gwalior IG Arvind Saxena has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to locate a missing Laddu Gopal idol, which a local family considers a beloved member. The search involves three police stations and a reward of 5000 rupees.

In a unique case reflecting deep faith and emotional attachment, the Gwalior police in Madhya Pradesh have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to search for a missing idol of Laddu Gopal, the child form of Lord Krishna. For the family involved, this idol isn't merely an object of worship but a cherished member of their household, while the idol went missing approximately 5 months ago in a local market, and despite numerous efforts, its whereabouts remain unknown. Following a plea from the victim to the Inspector General (IG) of the Gwalior Range, a dedicated team has been tasked with the recovery of the deity.

The Incident During Shopping

According to the available information, Vijaya Sharma, a resident of Alkapuri, had gone to the Madhoganj and Sabzi Mandi areas under the Kotwali police station jurisdiction on 29 January. She was accompanied by her sister, and they were out to purchase materials for religious rituals. During their shopping trip, the Laddu Gopal idol they were carrying went missing. Immediately after realizing the loss, Vijaya and her family members conducted an extensive search in the surrounding areas, but they were unsuccessful. Subsequently, a formal complaint was lodged with the Kotwali police station. Although the police initiated a search at their level, no clues were found even after 5 months had passed.

Emotional Connection and Family Distress

Victim Vijaya Sharma expressed that Laddu Gopal is the most beloved member of their family. She shared that her mother has passed away, and this particular idol was gifted to her by her grandmother. Every member of the family was deeply involved in the daily service and worship of the idol, while since the idol went missing, a cloud of gloom has descended over the entire household, and the family members are under significant mental distress. Vijaya even claimed that she saw Laddu Gopal in her dreams, where the deity appeared to be injured. This profound faith and emotional bond have kept the family persistent in their search efforts.

Reward Increased for Recovery

In a desperate attempt to recover the idol, Vijaya Sharma had initially announced a reward of 1100 rupees for anyone who could find it. However, as time passed without any success, she increased the reward amount to 5000 rupees. She also appealed to the police from neighboring stations to cooperate in the search operation, emphasizing the importance of the idol to her family's well-being.

IG Constitutes SIT for Search

Taking the victim's appeal seriously, Gwalior Range IG Arvind Saxena has directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the CSP Lashkar. This team includes personnel from the Kotwali police station, as well as the Janakganj and Madhoganj police stations. The police from these three stations will conduct a joint operation to find the Laddu Gopal idol. They're instructed to examine CCTV footage from the area and follow up on any potential leads or clues that may emerge during the investigation.

Action Respecting Public Faith

IG Arvind Saxena stated that the police department treats every complaint with sensitivity. Since this matter is deeply rooted in the religious faith and emotions of a family, specific instructions have been given to the special team to locate the idol. The police intend to use all available resources to ensure that the idol is found as soon as possible, respecting the sentiments of the devotees involved.
