The long-standing border dispute between Mizoram and Assam escalated to an unprecedented level on Monday. After violence broke out on the interstate border in the Kachar region, five An Assam policemen were killed. Explore the border disputes between the two countries through an in-depth study of the history of the creation of the states in the Northeast and the persistent "inherited problems" surrounding their borders.

The border violence earlier this week was a "national embarrassment", especially since a political party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, is currently the dominant force in the northeast.

BJP also established the Northeast Democratic Alliance or NEDA. Despite this, the armed forces of the two countries fought on the border.

Speaking of the border dispute that ravaged the northeast, recall the massacre of 54 Assamese civilians by the neighbouring Naga tribe in 1979 and the Assam Naga clashes in Melapani in 1985.

Initially, with the exception of Tripura and Manipur, which are federal territories, the northeastern states are "all Assam".

Nagaland was the first state to leave Assam after a violent incident involving Naga insurgents. It was established as an autonomous prefecture in Assam in 1957 and obtained full state status in 1963.

However, the borders of Nagaland were outlined in a "damage", and

caused a difference between the political borders of the newly formed country and traditional borders from a tribal perspective.

Northeast has always seen a clash between "Tradition and Modernity".

The present situation in the states and the Narendra Modi government’s push for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

“With the CAA-NRC, is like adding fuel to the fire which won't be calmed down by rains.

The situation which is created today and the incidents that are taking place are a result of the Lack of Appreciation and Susceptibility of the Northeast ethnic minorities to preserve their identity.
