PM Modi In Manipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state for the first time after the Manipur violence in 2023. During this, he met displaced families in Churachandpur and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 8500 crore. PM Modi's visit to Churachandpur, which was one of the worst affected areas by the Manipur violence, is being considered an important step towards peace and progress.Traditional welcome and message of peaceOn reaching Manipur, the local people welcomed the Prime Minister with traditional dance. Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh described the visit as "a moment leading to peace and lasting progress". In his address, PM Modi said, "I salute the spirit of the people of Manipur. There is immense potential in the culture here. Mani is in the name of Manipur itself."Inauguration of development projectsThe Prime Minister inaugurated several development projects in Churachandpur, including projects related to road, rail, and water supply. He informed that recently projects worth Rs 7,000 crore were inaugurated, and now new projects worth Rs 8,500 crore will accelerate the development of Manipur. These projects are aimed at improving the standard of living especially in hilly and tribal areas.Improvement in road and rail connectivityPM Modi said, "You all know how difficult it was to reach the villages of Manipur earlier. Now road connectivity has been extended to hundreds of villages, which has benefited the hill and tribal communities the most." Apart from this, the early completion of the Jiribam-Imphal railway line will connect Imphal to the national rail network.Progress in water and housing schemesThe Prime Minister informed that only 25-30 thousand houses in Manipur had piped water available 7-8 years ago, but now more than 3.5 lakh houses are getting tap water facility. Also, thousands of families in Manipur have benefited under the Pucca House Scheme of the Central Government.Efforts towards peacePM Modi in his address emphasised the efforts of the Central government for peace establishment. He said, "Recently, negotiations have been held for agreements with various groups of Hills and Valleys. This is a step towards establishing peace with dialogue, respect, and mutual understanding." He appealed to all the organizations to move forward on the path of peace and assured, "I am with you. The Government of India is with the people of Manipur."Manipur's share in India's development journeyReferring to India's rapidly growing economy, the Prime Minister said that the country is soon going to become the third largest economy in the world. He encouraged Manipur to be a part of this development journey and said that the Central Government is committed to the development of the state.
