IAF Mi-17 Helicopters To Deliver NEET Re-Exam Papers To Prevent Leaks

The Indian Air Force will deploy Mi-17 helicopters and military aircraft to transport NEET Re-Exam question papers to centers nationwide on June 21 to ensure a leak-proof and transparent examination process following the previous cancellation.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Ministry of Education have Notably intensified their preparations for the upcoming NEET Re-Exam, which is scheduled to take place on June 21. In a major move to ensure the integrity and transparency of the examination process, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been officially roped in to assist with the secure transportation of question papers across the country, while this decision comes as part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent any possibility of paper leaks or security breaches that have previously marred the examination's reputation.

IAF Deployment and Logistics

According to official sources, the Indian Air Force will deploy its Mi-17 helicopters and other specialized military aircraft to facilitate the movement of confidential question papers. The operation involves transporting these sensitive documents from 18 designated locations to various distribution hubs and examination centers situated throughout India. The use of military-grade logistics is intended to provide an impenetrable layer of security, ensuring that the papers reach their destinations without any unauthorized access or tampering.

High-Level Decision Making

The strategic decision to involve the Indian Air Force in the NEET Re-Exam logistics was finalized during a high-level meeting held at the residence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This meeting underscored the government's commitment to conducting a fair and secure examination for millions of students, while by utilizing the IAF's strong transport capabilities, the authorities aim to eliminate the vulnerabilities associated with traditional transport methods, thereby restoring public trust in the national testing system.

Strict Security Protocols for Staff

In addition to the logistical support from the IAF, the Ministry of Education and the NTA have implemented unprecedented security measures for the personnel involved in the examination process. Experts, translators, and other staff members responsible for preparing the question papers have been placed under a strict lockdown. These individuals have been moved to undisclosed, highly secure locations where they will remain until the conclusion of the exam on June 21. During this period, the use of mobile phones, internet services, and any other digital communication devices is strictly prohibited to maintain absolute confidentiality.

Background of the Re-Exam

The necessity for a re-exam arose following the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination, which was originally held on May 3. During that session, more than 22 lakh candidates appeared for the test. However, concerns were raised when a sample paper surfaced on May 7, which contained questions identical to those in the main examination. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the NEET UG paper had been leaked, leading the Ministry of Education to cancel the May 3 results. The upcoming re-exam on June 21 will once again see the participation of over 22 lakh candidates, making it one of the largest and most critical academic assessments in the country.
