Sad / In-laws took wife after love marriage, asked for 70 lakhs for divorce, troubled youth committed suicide

In Patiala, a 24-year-old youth, fed up with his father-in-law, committed suicide by consuming poison in the area falling under the police station Tripadi. According to the police, the young man had a love marriage. Shortly after the marriage, the girl's parents took her with them and started demanding Rs 70 lakh in lieu of divorce. The police station Tripadi has named the accused mother-in-law and father-in-law, but no one has been arrested yet.

Harmanpreet Singh resident of Kanera Mohalla Tawakli Mod Patiala has given a statement to the police that his brother Simranjit Singh (24) had a love marriage with Jasmeet Kaur resident of Khalsa Mohalla Patiala. After marriage, her mother-in-law Ravinder Kaur and father-in-law Harmeet Singh started harassing Simranjit. He wanted Simranjit Singh to transfer his land to his daughter. On her refusal, the mother-in-law took their girl to the maternal house and started demanding Rs 70 lakh for divorce.

Tired of the accused, Simranjit Singh started living in the house of his aunt's son Harpal Singh resident of Ratan Nagar Patiala. On 13 April, Simranjit Singh told his taya's son on the phone that his father-in-law was troubling him a lot. Not sending his wife back to him. Because of this he wants to commit suicide. Taya's boy persuaded her enough not to do so. But at four o'clock in the morning, Simranjit Singh committed suicide by consuming some poisonous thing. On receiving the information, when the family members reached the spot, they saw that he had a letter in his hand, in which he had written about committing suicide after getting fed up with the accused.
