Bangladesh Violence: The Center for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights (CDPHR) has presented a new and shocking report on the atrocities being committed on minority Hindus in Bangladesh. This report titled 'Minorities Under Siege In Bangladesh' was made public by CDPHR President Dr. Prerna Malhotra and Prof. Kapil Kumar. This report highlights the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh and the alleged negligence of the government.

Key points of the report

Dr. Prerna Malhotra, highlighting the seriousness of this report, said that the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh is facing violence. According to the report, within four days of Sheikh Hasina's ouster from power, 190 incidents were recorded in which houses and properties of the Hindu community were damaged.

In addition:

16 temples were destroyed.

More than 2,000 cases of violence were registered till August 20.

69 Hindu temples faced vandalism.

477 cases were registered against women and children.

Failure of Mohammad Yunus government

The report also mentioned that after the formation of Mohammad Yunus' interim government on August 8, it was expected that the violence would stop, but it did not happen. The government failed to ensure the safety of minorities. Dr. Malhotra said, "The main job of the government is to protect all citizens, but a situation like genocide has arisen against minorities in Bangladesh."

Question on the silence of the world

CDPHR also stressed that the international community is silent on this issue. It is the responsibility of the big countries of the world to put pressure on the Bangladesh government so that the violence against Hindus can be stopped. Prof. Kapil Kumar said, "If these incidents are not stopped, then its impact will not be limited to Bangladesh only, but will affect the entire region and the world."

Genocide of Hindus: A well-planned effort?

The report also claimed that a well-planned genocide is taking place to completely eliminate Hindus from Bangladesh. Jihadis not only targeted the property and temples of Hindus but also made women and children victims of violence.

What can big countries do?

CDPHR has appealed to the international community to make the Bangladesh government realize its responsibility. The United Nations and other global institutions should play an active role and ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.

Conclusion

The attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are not only a violation of human rights but also a serious threat to regional stability. This report has not only highlighted the incidents of violence but has also given a warning that if the international community does not take timely action, the consequences can be even more dire. Now is the time to take concrete steps to protect the rights of Hindus and their safety.
