Kharge demands removal of CEC, says citizen voting rights in grave danger

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the India bloc mock parliament, stating voting rights are in danger.

During the symbolic public impeachment program organized by the India bloc against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge delivered a sharp critique. He stated that the voting rights of citizens are in grave danger and demanded that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar be removed from his post. Mallikarjun Kharge launched a fierce attack on both the central government and the Chief Election Commissioner during his address. This event held in New Delhi has intensified political discussions across the country.

Meira Kumar presided over the mock parliament session. Prior to Kharge's address, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the meeting and stated that this assembly has been convened for public impeachment proceedings against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The names of crores of people in the country are being improperly deleted from the electoral rolls, and no accountability is fixed when questions are asked about this matter. Because of this, the India bloc decided to convene a meeting to bring a public impeachment against Gyanesh Kumar and remove him from office. Following this, she announced that Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge would present the public impeachment motion before the house and deliver his statement.

The right to vote is the greatest strength of the common man. Mallikarjun Kharge began his address by remembering Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi. He then stated that the voting rights of citizens are in serious jeopardy. He emphasized that the right to vote is the common man's biggest strength. Governments are formed and run through the right to vote. We're struggling to protect this fundamental right of the public.

He further stated that today he pays heartfelt tribute on the 151st birth anniversary of the country's first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Patel and the martyrdom day of the nation's first female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Both of these great nation builders were freedom fighters and served as Congress presidents. Indira Gandhi had a sense of many things well before her death. Following this, he mentioned a statement made by Indira Gandhi.

Accusing that Gyanesh Kumar is working under the orders of the Prime Minister and Home Minister, Kharge stated that the right to vote given to our citizens under Article-326 of the Constitution of India is in grave danger today. Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, and other freedom fighters had to work very hard for this, while these great personalities first won independence for us and then framed the Constitution to save democracy. Baba Saheb had said that the right to vote is the general public's greatest strength. Through this very right, the public forms and removes governments. But today that right is in danger because CEC Gyanesh Kumar is running the commission directly under the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.
