IND vs BAN: Under the leadership of India's stand-in captain KL Rahul, India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the two-match Test series, but his own form and the decision to drop Kuldeep Yadav remained under question. In the post-match press conference, Rahul on Sunday admitted that he missed Kuldeep Yadav in the second innings of the Mirpur Test but did not regret his decision to drop the chinaman bowler. Along with this, he blamed his poor batting in this series on the matter of adjusting from one format to another.

Let us tell you that player of the match Kuldeep Yadav, who played a key role in India's 188-run victory over Bangladesh in the Chattogram Test, was not played in the Mirpur Test. He was replaced by an additional fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat. Many former players, including Sunil Gavaskar, had also criticized the Indian captain and coach for not feeding Kuldeep, who got out after scoring 8 wickets and an important 40 runs with the bat in the first Test, but Rahul's blunt answer cleared it. Granted, he still stands by his decision.

Rahul told his decision right

Defending his decision after the match, Rahul told the media that he did not regret his decision. It was the right decision. If you look at the wicket, our fast bowlers also got a lot of wickets and they were getting help from the pitch. The wicket had a lot of uneven bounce. We took this decision based on our experience of playing here in ODIs. We saw that fast and spin bowlers are getting help here. It's a balanced team and I think our decision was right. Chasing the target of 145 runs, the Indian team had lost 74 runs for seven wickets at one stage. After this, Ravichandran Ashwin (42 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (29 not out) shared an unbroken 71-run partnership for the eighth wicket to win the team.

When did Rahul miss Kuldeep Yadav?

Kuldeep Yadav made a spectacular comeback after 22 months, taking eight wickets in the first Test match and also played a fighting innings of 40 runs. He was also adjudged Player of the Match in that Test. Rahul, however, described the decision to drop him from the match as difficult and said that it was a difficult decision, especially after he had performed well in the first Test. But after seeing the pitch a day before the match, we felt that it would help the fast bowlers and hence we decided to field the best and balanced team. The Indian team especially missed Kuldeep in the second innings. Bangladesh's score was 70 for four at one time but in the end they managed to score 231 runs. Rahul said that if there was an impact player rule in Test matches, he would have preferred to field Kuldeep in the second innings. This rule is going to be implemented in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

What did Rahul say on bad batting?

India's stand-in captain KL Rahul is constantly under the scanner for his poor batting. He was also targeted a lot in the T20 World Cup. Now in the Test series against Bangladesh also he had a very disappointing performance with just 57 runs. On this question, the caretaker captain defended himself and blamed the decision to hold the Test match immediately after the limited overs series. He said that when you play all three formats, it is difficult to adjust from one format to another. Personally I think it just takes some time.
