Navratri festival Sharad Navratri begins on the first day of Shukla Paksha of Ashwini month i.e. Pratipada. This festival is celebrated for nine nights. This year the festival will start from October 15 and will end with Dussehra on October 24, 2023.

Ghatasthapana is one of the important rituals during Navratri. It marks the beginning of nine days of festivities. This ritual symbolically symbolizes the invocation of Goddess Shakti. The most auspicious or best time for Ghatasthapana is on the first day of Navratri. At the same time, Chitra Nakshatra is considered the most inauspicious time for Ghatasthapana.

Importance of Kanya Puja in Navratri

Feeding girls during Navratri is considered very auspicious and fruitful. Actually, small girls are considered to be the form of Mother Goddess, hence Kanya Puja must be performed during Navratri. Kanya Puja can be performed on both Ashtami and Navami days of Navratri. Girls up to 10 years of age should be invited for Kanya Puja. Mother Durga is pleased with Kanya Puja and fulfills every wish of the devotees.
