The threat of floods has also arisen since the onset of monsoon in Bihar. The water level of the rivers of the state is increasing rapidly, due to which the concern of the people as well as the administration has increased. Many rivers are in spate due to incessant rains in Seemanchal. After Kosi and Bagmati, Kamla Balan and Labakia rivers also crossed the danger mark on Saturday evening. Due to the inflow of water in the second Gandak and Ghaghra, the water level of the river Ganga is also increasing in the capital Patna.

The Kosi river is flowing above the red mark in Supaul, while the Bagmati river crossed the danger mark at Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur two days ago. The water level of Kamala river reached above the danger mark in Madhubani's Jaynagar on Saturday evening, while its water near Jhanjarpur Rail Bridge is just 40 cm below the red mark. Similarly, the Labakia river also crossed the danger mark in Dhaka in East Champaran.

Gandak in Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali, while in Supaul and Khagaria the water level of Kosi river is continuously rising. This has created a risk of flooding in the surrounding areas. Adhwara in Sitamarhi, Khiroi in Darbhanga, Mahananda in Kishanganj and Purnia and Ghaghra in Siwan and Saran are in spate. Their water level is likely to rise further in the next 48 hours.

In Patna's Dighaghat, Gandhighat and Hathidah, the water of the Ganges river is continuously increasing. While Allahabad, Varanasi and Buxar above Patna and Munger and Bhagalpur ahead of Patna, the water level of Ganga is below.
