JNU assault case / Left student organizations surrounded Vice-Chancellor's office, ABVP took out a goodwill visit

On Tuesday, there was a day-long commotion in the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University's Kaveri Hostel on the occasion of Ram Navami between students belonging to Left and ABVP.

Both the student organizations kept accusing each other. Other Left student organizations including AISA gheraoed the Vice-Chancellor's office and demanded a judicial inquiry into the entire matter, while ABVP demanded a proctorial inquiry into the entire matter and took out a Sadbhavna Yatra in the campus. AISA says that Vice Chancellor Prof. Shantashree Dhulipudi Pandit did not give them an appointment. However, he has submitted his demand letter. On the other hand, Left student organizations also protested in Jamia Millia Islamia.

Allegations and counter-allegations continued throughout the day between the two sides in the JNU campus, but peace remained. The leaders of both the student organizations are talking of getting the whole matter investigated so that the culprits can be punished. ABVP JNU unit minister Umesh Chandra Ajmeera said, "We have given a complaint letter to the JNU administration demanding a proctorial inquiry into the whole matter so that the chaotic elements who spread violence in the campus can be punished."

On the other hand, a delegation led by JNU Students' Union Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shantisree Dhulipudi reached to meet Pandit, but the meeting could not take place. Security officials made a formal request to meet the Vice Chancellor asking for time, but the time was not given. The Left delegation has demanded that the university administration withdraw its statement issued on April 11, in which violence erupted when some students protested against the peaceful havan on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Protest in jamia

 Protests were also held in Jamia Millia Islamia against incidents of violence on the occasion of Ram Navami in other cities of the country including JNU. Various student organizations including AISA took out a protest march in the Jamia campus. Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) Jamia President Musaddiq Mubeen said that the atmosphere of hatred is increasing in the country. Atrocities on a particular community are highly condemnable.

I had received threats to stop the supply of non-veg in the hostel...

Afzal Ahmed, a vendor who supplies non-veg in JNU campus hostel, has alleged that there was a threat not to supply non-veg at Cauvery hostel on the day of Ram Navami. For years, I supply in JNU hostel in non-veg only. It has never happened before that instructions have been given not to supply non-veg on the occasion of any particular festival. I know the students who called me.

Ahmed said that at around 4 pm, a call was received from the Kaveri Hostel mess secretary asking him to deliver the chicken. I stopped my van and people with me started taking out non-veg to supply to the hostel mess. During this some people stopped me, after which I left from there. Ahmed says that 250-300 kg of non-veg is supplied to JNU. Earlier, the JNU Students' Union and AISA have alleged that the vendor was prevented from supplying. SIT may be formed for investigation

The Vasant Kunj (North) police station has started investigation in the JNU assault case on Sunday night. On Tuesday, FSL and crime team inspected the spot and picked up samples. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) may soon be formed in the South-West district for investigation. On the other hand, the police is trying to identify the accused from the CCTV footage.

After identifying the accused, notices will be sent to them to join the investigation. According to South-West District Police officials, the FSL team and crime team at Rohini reached Ghakaveri Hostel in JNU on Tuesday and inspected the spot. Apart from blood, the team of FSL has collected other samples. south west district

DCP Manoj C said that the police is getting the samples collected from the spot. Efforts are on to get in touch with the victims to record their statements. Another senior district official said that 29 boys and girls were injured in the assault case at Cauvery Hostel. A total of 29 people have become MLC. Among them, there are 19 students and students of ABVP, while 10 students of Left organizations are included. The special thing is that none of the victims have given complaint. The complaint has been given by the student organizations itself.

Violence should be avoided in university campus: UGC President

Former Vice Chancellor of JNU and Chairman of University Grants Commission Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar said that any kind of violence should be avoided in the university campus.

The fight took place only in Kaveri Hostel. Actually, the worship of Ramnavami was going on in Kaveri. ABVP workers were present there. In other hostels, non-veg was prepared and the students had eaten.
