Parliament Session: There was a lot of uproar in the House on Thursday after the lapse in security of the Parliament House. Opposition MPs demanded a statement from the Union Agriculture Minister on this matter and he demanded to discuss it in the House. During this, there was a lot of uproar, after which the Speaker of the Lok Sabha suspended 13 MPs. Meanwhile, now Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has written a letter to all the MPs. In his letter, Om Birla has described the incident of December 13 as unfortunate. He told in this that a high level investigation committee has been formed for this incident. Actually, this inquiry committee has been formed regarding the infiltration case in the Parliament House.

The Speaker of the Lok Sabha wrote in his letter, the unfortunate incident that took place in the Lok Sabha on 13 December 2023 is certainly a matter of deep concern for all of us. We had collectively expressed concern in the House over this incident. On the same day, I had discussed with the leaders of all parties how we can strengthen the security arrangements of Parliament. The important suggestions given by you in that meeting have been implemented with immediate effect. He wrote in this letter that a high-level committee has been formed to thoroughly investigate this incident that took place inside the House.

Om Birla wrote in this letter, you all are well aware that such incidents have happened many times in the past in our House. The entire country has been witness to incidents like visitors bringing pistols, shouting slogans, jumping from the audience gallery and throwing pamphlets inside the House. The country has also seen such incidents when some honorable members came inside the House with pepper spray. At the time of every such incident, the House has shown solidarity and expressed its determination to oppose them in one voice. The security of the Parliament complex falls under the jurisdiction of the Parliament. Therefore, whatever action plan we make on the subject of security, it will be made in consultation with all of you and on the basis of your suggestions and after that it will be implemented by the Parliament Secretariat itself.
