Madhya Pradesh: The regional balance of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh has been disturbed due to the reshuffle and expansion in the Union Council of Ministers. The Malwa region, which is considered a strong stronghold of the BJP, has become very weak, while the weight of the Gwalior-Chambal region has increased. Narendra Singh Tomar and Jyotiraditya Scindia coming from Gwalior-Chambal region are cabinet ministers at the centre. At the same time, state president VD Sharma is also from this area. On the other hand, after Thaawarchand Gehlot's withdrawal from the central government, the Malwa region is almost missing from the top role both at the center and in the state.

Malwa region has been very influential in the politics of Madhya Pradesh from the center to the state, but these days the dominance of the region has reduced. In comparison, Central India, Gwalior-Chambal and Bundelkhand region have got a lot of importance. Malwa's representation in the central government has ended after Thaawarchand Gehlot stepped down from the central government. There is no Malwa even under the top leadership of the state BJP. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is from Central India while State BJP President VD Sharma comes from Gwalior Chambal division. He is also an MP from Bundelkhand.

The only big face of BJP from Malwa, Kailash Vijayvargiya is the national general secretary, but the party has not sent him to the assembly or parliament. For the past several years, two big faces of BJP have been Sumitra Mahajan and Thawarchand Gehlot from Malwa region. Mahajan was also the Speaker of the previous Lok Sabha. Thaawarchand Gehlot was a minister in the central government for the past seven years, a member of the BJP parliamentary board and the leader of the house in the Rajya Sabha during the second term of the Modi government. Mahajan is out of active politics, while Thaawarchand Gehlot has been made governor. The central government has five ministers from Madhya Pradesh, including Narendra Singh Tomar and Jyotiraditya Scindia from Gwalior.
