A shocking and deeply disturbing incident of inhumanity has come to light from a school in the Govind Nagar police station area of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The sanctity of the educational institution was called into question at Balaji Memorial Public School, where a three-year-old nursery student and her mother were subjected to extreme humiliation and insensitive treatment. According to reports, the incident was triggered when the minor student vomited inside the classroom due to ill health. Instead of providing medical assistance or comfort to the toddler, the school management chose to adopt a punitive and derogatory approach that has sparked widespread outrage in the community.
Two-Hour Punishment for a Three-Year-Old Toddler
The incident occurred on the morning of May 8th, when the three-year-old girl, a student of the nursery class, suddenly felt unwell and vomited. In a professional and empathetic environment, the school should have immediately provided water, allowed the child to rest, and informed the parents about her health. However, the management of Balaji Memorial Public School allegedly did the exact opposite. The child was scolded and forced to stand with her hands raised for two consecutive hours. This harsh physical punishment was meted out to a toddler who was already suffering from physical discomfort, showcasing a complete lack of basic empathy from the school authorities.
Mother Forced to Mop the School Floor
The ordeal didn't end with the punishment of the child. The school management summoned the girl's mother, identified as Priyanka, to the premises. Upon her arrival, Priyanka was shocked to find her daughter in distress. Instead of discussing the child's health, the school authorities handed a mop to the mother and ordered her to clean the entire floor where the child had vomited. Priyanka, concerned for her daughter's well-being and under pressure from the management, complied and mopped the floor. It was only after she finished cleaning the entire area that she was allowed to attend to her daughter and take her home. Priyanka first gave water to her exhausted child before leaving the premises.
ABVP Protest and Police Intervention
The matter remained suppressed for six days until information reached the members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Upon learning of the inhuman treatment, the activists reached the school premises and launched a vigorous protest, demanding accountability from the management. The situation escalated, prompting the arrival of Ravi Tyagi, the In-charge of Govind Nagar Police Station, along with a significant police force. A long discussion ensued between the police, the school management, the victim's family, and the protesters to resolve the tension and address the grievances of the mother.
Written Apology Issued by School Management
Under intense pressure from the police and the protesting activists, the school management finally admitted to their misconduct. Dilip Kumar Singh, the manager of Balaji Memorial Public School, issued a formal written apology for the incident. He acknowledged that a grave mistake had been made and assured that such an incident would never be repeated in the future. On top of that, the manager committed to rectifying the various administrative and management-related shortcomings within the school to ensure a better environment for the students. The written apology was handed over in the presence of the police and the family.
This incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety and dignity of students and parents within private educational institutions. While the school management has apologized in writing, the emotional trauma caused to the young child and the humiliation faced by the mother have left a lasting impact. Local authorities and the police are monitoring the situation to ensure that the promised reforms are implemented and that such unethical practices are permanently discontinued in the region's schools.
