A severe dispute arising from a love marriage has escalated into a bloody conflict and large-scale looting in Manpur village, under the jurisdiction of Dilari Police Station in Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. According to reports, Simran and Arbaaz, both residents of the same village, had been in a relationship for approximately five years. Seeking to formalize their union, the couple performed their Nikah on May 2nd in the presence of police personnel. However, the girl's family was vehemently opposed to this relationship and the subsequent marriage. Exactly eight days after the wedding, while most male members of Arbaaz's family were away attending another wedding ceremony, the girl's relatives launched a pre-planned and violent attack on the household.
Armed Assault and Destruction of Property
Taking advantage of the absence of the men, the girl's father, Intezar, along with his sons and a group of 20 to 25 unidentified armed miscreants, stormed Arbaaz's residence. Upon entering, the attackers first destroyed the CCTV cameras installed at the house to eliminate any digital evidence of their identities and actions. They then proceeded to vandalize the property extensively. The victim's family has alleged that the attackers targeted the safe, looting approximately 12-13 tolas of gold and several mobile phones. The interior of the house was left in shambles as the mob ransacked every room, causing significant financial loss and emotional trauma to the residents.
Brutality Against Vulnerable Family Members
The attackers displayed extreme cruelty towards the women and elderly members present in the house. According to family members, the assailants didn't spare even the most vulnerable; a paralyzed elderly man was shot during the melee, leaving him in a critical state. Also, a woman suffering from cancer was also brutally assaulted by the mob. Witnesses and family members stated that the attackers were armed with country-made pistols (tamanchas) and rifles, which they used to fire multiple rounds indiscriminately inside and outside the house. The recovery of live cartridges from the crime scene underscores the sheer terror and lethal intent of the attackers during the incident.
Abduction of the Bride and Family's Fear
Before fleeing the scene, the attackers forcibly abducted the newlywed Simran, while family members Rehana and Gulshan, while recounting the harrowing experience, stated that the attackers had beaten the men of the house to a state of near-death. They expressed grave concern for Simran's safety, fearing that her own family might harm her. The victims also alleged that the attackers are now threatening to implicate them in false legal cases, while the primary fear of Arbaaz's family remains the well-being of Simran, as the attackers had openly threatened her life while dragging her away from her matrimonial home.
Police Action and Ongoing Investigation
Following the sensational incident, the police administration has initiated a rigorous investigation.
SP Rural Kunwar Akash Singh has assured that strict legal action will be taken against all those involved. The police are currently prioritizing the safe recovery of Simran and the arrest of the named suspects. Security measures are being reviewed in the village to prevent any further escalation of violence between the two families. The investigation continues as authorities track the movement of the suspects through local intelligence and forensic evidence.
