Recently, Neeraj had won the gold medal for the country by covering a distance of 88.17 meters in the World Athletics Championship held in Budapest last month. This was India's first gold in the World Athletics Championship. Earlier in the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra had won the gold medal for the country with the best throw of 87.58 meters. At the same time, 25-year-old Neeraj Chopra became the only Indian to win the title in any athletics event of the Diamond League. But this time Neeraj was disappointed.

But after this, he finished second in Zurich, behind Jakub Vadlej of Czech Republic. Here he covered a distance of 85.71 meters. Now in the final round of Eugene he could not even touch the mark of 84 meters. The Diamond League Final competition was Neeraj Chopra's last competition this season before the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
