Nishikant Dubey Attacks Rahul Gandhi: Compares Him To Jinnah Amid Jharkhand Protests

In a significant escalation of political rhetoric in Jharkhand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey has launched a blistering attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Amidst the backdrop of intense student protests against recruitment examination irregularities in the state, Dubey compared the former Congress President to the founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, while the BJP leader went as far as to claim that Rahul Gandhi is a worse leader than Jinnah and described him as the second birth of Jinnah. This statement has added a fresh layer of political tension to the already volatile situation in Jharkhand, where job aspirants have been protesting for nearly three weeks.

The Jinnah Comparison and Political Allegations

Nishikant Dubey made these controversial remarks while addressing the media regarding the ongoing student unrest in Jharkhand. He stated that wherever there is a protest against the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi is seen there. Dubey alleged that Rahul Gandhi is working on a specific agenda and compared his political style to that of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the BJP MP shared a video of his statement and wrote that Jinnah has been reborn in the form of Rahul Gandhi. This comparison is rooted in the BJP's broader criticism of the Congress party's stance on various national and regional issues.

Demands for a CBI Investigation

A central point of Nishikant Dubey's criticism involved the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in Jharkhand's recruitment exams. He questioned why the Congress and the Jharkhand government were avoiding a CBI inquiry. Dubey pointed out that the main accused in the recruitment scam, identified as Dharmendra, was reportedly apprehended from the residence of a high-ranking official in the Jharkhand government. He alleged that the state government is hesitant to involve the CBI because they fear that the investigation would eventually lead to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Dubey suggested that if the Congress party truly stands with the students, they should withdraw their support from the Hemant Soren-led government to prove their sincerity. He further alleged that the opposition's actions align with the agenda of George Soros.

The 19 Day Student Movement

The political firestorm comes as the movement by job aspirants in Jharkhand entered its 19th day on Wednesday. The protesters are demanding complete transparency in the recruitment processes conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Their primary demands include the cancellation of several examinations marred by irregularities and an independent investigation into the entire matter. The students have specifically asked for either a CBI probe or an investigation by a committee of retired High Court judges from outside the state to ensure impartiality, while the persistence of the students, who have remained on the streets for 19 days, highlights the depth of the grievances regarding the state's employment system.

Escalation and Police Action

The situation turned violent on Monday when the protesting students attempted to march towards the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, while to prevent the protesters from reaching the high-security zone, the police employed various crowd-control measures, including lathi charge, tear gas shells, and water cannons. While the students claimed that several of their peers were injured in the police action, the Ranchi police reported that 14 of their personnel sustained injuries during the clashes. This confrontation led to a further hardening of positions between the government and the opposition.

BJP Calls for Jharkhand Bandh

In response to the police action against the students, the BJP called for a state-wide shutdown, or Jharkhand Bandh, on Tuesday. The strike had a visible impact across various districts, with roads being blocked, markets remaining closed, and educational institutions being affected. The BJP used the platform to accuse the Hemant Soren government of suppressing the voices of the youth and demanded an independent inquiry into the recruitment irregularities, while the bandh served as a show of strength for the opposition, turning the student movement into a major political confrontation between the ruling coalition and the BJP.

Government Response and Assurances

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has addressed the growing unrest by stating that his government is committed to reforming the recruitment examination system. In an attempt to pacify the protesters, he has provided an assurance that the 14th JPSC examination will be cancelled. However, the Chief Minister also hit back at the BJP, accusing the opposition party of using the student movement as a political platform for their own gains. As the protests continue, the issue has evolved from a demand for examination reforms into a central political battleground in Jharkhand, with both sides refusing to back down.
