Delhi liquor scam: Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh have not got relief in the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of both of them till March 19.

Judicial custody was extended for 5 days in the last hearing

Earlier, in the last hearing held on March 2, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court had extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh for five days. This period was ending today. But today the court has extended the judicial custody till March 19.

Earlier in the last hearing, ED had argued that as long as the curative petition is pending in the Supreme Court, Sisodia's regular bail petition should not be considered. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 last year over alleged corruption in the implementation of Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

On October 4 last year, Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED had earlier told the court that Sanjay Singh was part of a conspiracy to receive bribes from liquor (company) groups in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Delhi's excise policy was repealed in August, 2022 and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi later ordered the CBI to investigate the alleged irregularities and corruption.

Let us tell you that in this case, ED has sent eight summons to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for questioning but he has been avoiding every summon. He has termed the ED summons as illegal and an act of political vendetta. Kejriwal has not appeared before the ED even once for questioning.
