Parliament Monsoon Session: Opposition Uproar Over NEET Paper Leak and Ram Mandir Donation Theft

The Monsoon Session of the Parliament witnessed a stormy start on Monday as opposition members created a massive uproar in the Lok Sabha over the NEET paper leak controversy and allegations of donation theft at the Ram Mandir. Chaos in Lok Sabha and Speaker's Intervention

In response to the chaos, Speaker Om Birla expressed his displeasure, stating that the dignity of the House isn't enhanced by sloganeering, while he emphasized that meaningful discussions should take place within the hallowed halls of Parliament rather than disruptive protests.

Speaker Om Birla further clarified that every member would be given an opportunity to speak under the appropriate rules and procedures. He urged the opposition to maintain the decorum of the House, noting that waving placards and shouting slogans wasn't the correct way to raise issues. Despite his pleas, the ruckus continued, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings of the Lok Sabha until 12 noon. The opposition's demand for a dedicated discussion on the Ram Mandir donation theft and the NEET examination irregularities remained the central point of the confrontation.

Rajya Sabha Adjourned Over Student Protests

The Rajya Sabha also faced similar disruptions as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of a police lathi charge on students at Jantar Mantar. Kharge highlighted that the matter concerned the future of thousands of students who had gathered to protest. He alleged that the government was attempting to suppress and crush the voices of the youth through force, while "The government is trying to kill the students," Kharge stated, pointing to the reported violence against the protesting students. His remarks triggered a sharp reaction from the treasury benches, leading to a heated exchange and subsequent adjournment of the Rajya Sabha until 12 noon.

The current Monsoon Session of Parliament is scheduled to run from July 20 to August 13. During this period, the government intends to introduce several significant pieces of legislation.
