The accused had a relationship with the woman before the murder and then after the murder fled away after throwing the dead body on the vacant plot in Vasantkunj area. The body of the woman was recovered by the police on May 24. After which the police registered a case of murder and investigated and on June 16, the 38-year-old accused Sanjay was arrested from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The accused had also killed his wife 11 years ago.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj C said that on May 24, from the PCR call, the police had received information about the body of a woman being found in an empty plot on Church Road. Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The police team started identifying the body. The police had found a bag of a tailor's shop in Mehrauli from the spot.The deceased was identified on the basis of interrogation of the lady teller. The woman lived with her family in Ward No-3 of Mehrauli and her husband had lodged a missing complaint on May 22. The husband of the deceased told during interrogation that she used to work as a domestic help in Shanti Kunj located on Church Road. A CCTV camera footage showed the woman accompanying a man on the day of the incident.After this, the police started interrogating street vendors, security personnel and paan masala sellers to identify him. After about 72 hours of interrogation, the accused was identified and arrested on Thursday. The accused told that he had a love affair with the woman for some time. From a few days ago, the woman started pressurizing him for marriageSeeing this, the accused conspired to kill the woman to get rid of her. On the night of the incident, he drank alcohol and took the woman to the spot on his bicycle. The accused had physical relations with the woman there. During this, he killed the woman by hitting her on the head with a brick.The accused had also killed his wifePolice investigation has revealed that the accused had also killed his wife in 2011 after a minor dispute. After the murder, the police arrested him and sent him to jail. Where he came out of jail after being in jail for 8 years and came in contact with the deceased woman.
