People drank heavily in 2021

According to one figure, in the year 2021, people consumed beer, whiskey, vodka fiercely. Their sales increased by 17-18 percent last year, which is the highest in a decade. IWSR Drinks Market Analysis has recently released some new figures. Although there was a decline in the first lockdown, but the very next year people had already made arrangements.

The decline was recorded in 2020

According to the data, in the year 2020, there was a 20 percent decrease in the sale of liquor and 39 percent in the sale of beer. Let us tell you that whiskey, brandy and rum account for 97 percent of the total consumption of alcohol in India. A UK research agency estimates that in the next 5 years, the liquor market in the country will grow at a rate of 4.4 percent, while the beer market will grow by 9.3 percent. Let us tell you that in the last 5 years, the liquor market in the country remained flat while the beer market declined by 3.7 percent.

Disappointment in the market due to the closure of bars and pubs

Significantly, due to the closure of bars, restaurants and pubs due to the epidemic, the sale of beer and liquor was significantly affected. But as soon as the lockdown is removed, now the liquor market is returning to its glory. Whiskey, brandy and rum account for 97 per cent of the total alcohol consumption in India. But last year, vodka and white rum sales rose by about 17.5 percent.
