Crime / Poison pill given as medicine of corona death of three people of same family

Murder: A shocking case has come to light from Erode in Tamil Nadu where poison pills were given to the same family as a medicine for the treatment of corona. After which 3 members of the family died. Police have arrested two people in this case. Investigation has revealed that the main accused R Kalyanasundaram (43), a resident of Keezhavani village, had borrowed Rs 15 lakh from Karuppankundar (72) of Karungoondanvalasu village a few months back. He was unable to repay the debt and facing pressure, he decided to get rid of Karuppanakundar and his family.

Kalyanasundaram sought the help of Sabri (25) to carry out this task. This person named Sabri reached their house as an employee of Swasthya Vibhag and gave poison pills to the family of four.

Sabri had reached Karuppankounder's house on June 26 with a health worker's belongings including a thermometer and pulse oximeter. She inquired there whether Karuppankundar and his family had fever or cough, then gave them some pills saying that they would boost immunity against Covid.

Karuppankundar, his wife Mallika, daughter Deepa and domestic help Kuppal consumed the bullets and then collapsed. When the people around found all four unconscious, they took them to the hospital. Mallika died on the way to the hospital; The next day Deepa and Kuppal died. The condition of Karuppankounder himself remains critical.

The police arrested Kalyanasundaram and Sabri on Sunday night after their statements were not received.

Erode DSP Selvaraj told India Today, "Kalyanasundaram had sent Sabri to Karuppankundar's house on the false pretext of a health worker and asked him to kill him by giving him poison pills to treat Covid-19."

Both were produced before the Judicial Magistrate of the Perundurai sub-court, who remanded them to 15-day judicial custody.
