Lok Sabha Election: Political strategist Prashant Kishore has suggested that if Congress does not get the expected results in the Lok Sabha elections, then Rahul Gandhi should consider taking a step back. He said Gandhi, for all practical purposes, is running his party and despite his inability to function in the last 10 years he can neither step aside nor let anyone else lead the Congress.

Kishore said, “According to me this is also undemocratic. Let us tell you that Prashant Kishor had prepared a revival plan for the opposition party, but walked out due to disagreements between him and its leadership on the implementation of his strategy.

He said, “When you have been doing the same work for the last 10 years and have not got any success, there is no harm in taking a break… You should let someone else do it for five years. Your mother did this. Prashant Kishor said these things while remembering Sonia Gandhi's decision to stay away from politics after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and hand over the charge to PV Narasimha Rao in 1991.

Good leaders know what their shortcomings are

He said, a key characteristic of good leaders around the world is that they know what they lack and actively look to fill those shortcomings.

Kishore said, “But Rahul Gandhi thinks he knows everything. If you do not recognize the need for help, no one can help you. They believe that they need someone who can implement what they feel is right. it's not possible."

BJP will win more than 300 seats

Justifying BJP's claims, political strategist Prashant Kishore said that the party's seats and vote share will increase in South and East India. Kishore said that BJP will win more than 300 seats. Kishor also said that neither the BJP party nor Prime Minister Narendra Modi are the ones who cannot be defeated. He told that the opposition had three possibilities to stop the BJP juggernaut, but the opposition failed to defeat the BJP. Those three opportunities were lost due to wrong strategy.

Kishor said that they (BJP) will be either the first or second party in Telangana, which is a big thing. He also said that BJP will be the number one party in Odisha. Political strategist Prashant Kishore said that you will be surprised to know this but in my opinion, there is full hope that BJP is going to become the number one party in West Bengal.

What did Kishore say on BJP's target of 370?

Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Kerala together have 204 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, but the BJP could not cross 50 seats in all these states together in 2014 or 2019. BJP was successful in winning only 29 and 47 constituencies. However, he stressed that BJP will not be able to achieve its election target of winning 370 seats.

Comment on Reddy also

In Andhra Pradesh, where assembly elections will be held along with the Lok Sabha elections, he said it would be very difficult for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to come back. Kishor had worked for Reddy in 2019 when his YSRC party defeated the incumbent Telugu Desam Party. Reddy, like former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has gone into provider mode for his voters, instead of fulfilling people's expectations. Kishore compared this to the kings of old, who looked after their people with charity and generosity, but nothing more. Kishore further said that similarly, Reddy gives cash to the people, but has done nothing to provide jobs or boost the stalled development of the state.

What did you say on Lok Sabha elections?

Speaking about the Lok Sabha elections starting on April 19, he said that the BJP will feel elected only if the opposition, especially the Congress, can ensure that the BJP loses at least 100 seats in its strongholds in North and West India. Kishore also said that but this is not going to happen. He said, overall, BJP will be able to maintain its hold in these areas.

Taunted on Rahul Gandhi

Kishor said the BJP has made consistent efforts to increase vote share in South and Eastern India over the past few years, with top BJP leaders like Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah frequently visiting these states. On the other hand, the opposition has made very little efforts in these states. If we count the number of visits by the Prime Minister to the states for elections in Tamil Nadu in the last five years, the PM's visits are more than that of Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi or any other opposition leader. Taking a sharp jibe at Rahul Gandhi, Kishor said that your fight is in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh but if you are visiting Manipur and Meghalaya, then how will you get success.
