Because of the punishment in the Modi surname case, Rahul had to lose the Lok Sabha membership.

Actually, BJP MLA and former minister in Gujarat government Purunesh Modi had filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. During the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Rahul took the names of Lalit Modi and Nirav Modi at a rally and said, 'Why are all thieves named Modi?' Purunesh Modi said that Rahul's statement insulted the entire Modi community. Has happened. Hurt by Rahul's statement, Purunesh had filed a case against Rahul.

Rahul reached SC after being disappointed with the High Court

Rahul had also gone to the Gujarat High Court before knocking the doors of the Supreme Court. He filed a review petition in the High Court to stay his sentence in the Modi surname case. But the High Court rejected his petition. The court had said that the demand for a stay on the sentence is being made without any solid basis.

Justice Hemant Prichhak, while giving the verdict, said that there is no rule to ban the sentence. At least 10 cases are pending against Rahul. Purity is necessary in politics. In Cambridge University, Rahul gave a statement regarding Veer Savarkar. After this, the grandson of Veer Savarkar filed a complaint against him in the Pune court. If the sentence of Rahul is stayed, injustice will be done to the applicant.

Rahul was MP from Wayanad

Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha on March 24, 2023. The Gujarat High Court found him guilty in the Modi surname case and sentenced him to two years. Rahul was a Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad in Kerala. The Congress leader had contested from his traditional seat Amethi and Wayanad in 2019, where he was defeated by BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi. However, he reached the Lok Sabha after winning from Wayanad.
