Rahul Gandhi Slams Center: Claims Government Refuses to Listen to People

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi delivered a scathing critique of the Central Government during his address at the Creative Congress National Convention. Throughout his speech, Gandhi focused on the government's alleged refusal to engage with the public and its tendency to suppress dissenting voices. He highlighted specific instances where he believed the administration had failed to uphold the democratic values of listening and responding to the concerns of the citizens.

Suppression of Voices at Jantar Mantar and Uttarakhand

One of the primary points raised by Rahul Gandhi was the situation at Jantar Mantar. He alleged that students who wished to raise their voices and express their concerns were systematically silenced. According to Gandhi, the government explicitly told these students that they couldn't express themselves, which he framed as a direct assault on the freedom of expression. He emphasized that when the youth of the country are barred from speaking, it reflects a deeper systemic issue within the current administration.

Furthering his argument about the government's indifference, Gandhi shared his experience of meeting the family of a rape victim in Uttarakhand. He stated that despite the gravity of the crime, the family has not received justice. By bringing up this specific case, Gandhi aimed to illustrate a pattern of neglect where the voices of the marginalized and the victims of heinous crimes are ignored by the state machinery. He used this as a foundation to claim that the government simply doesn't want to listen to the people.

The Drive Them Crazy Remark and Attacks on Leadership

In a particularly bold statement, Rahul Gandhi asserted that since the government refuses to listen to the public, we will drive them crazy. This remark was intended to signal a shift in the opposition's strategy to force the government to acknowledge the public's grievances. He suggested that the persistent expression of the people's will would eventually overwhelm an administration that tries to shut it out.

The Congress leader also took direct aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gandhi commented on the Prime Minister's personal habits, stating that Narendra Modi doesn't sleep at night. He claimed there are many reasons for this, some of which he described as hidden. Plus, Gandhi questioned why the Prime Minister doesn't hold press conferences. He recounted an anecdote from a 5 minute meeting he once had with the Prime Minister in a room, concluding that the Prime Minister can't speak for a long duration, which Gandhi suggested was the real reason behind the lack of media interaction rather than it being a marketing strategy.

Critique of Amit Shah and the RSS

The attack extended to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Rahul Gandhi referred to him as the so-called Chanakya and Sardar Patel, but claimed that he ran away and couldn't enter Parliament, while gandhi attributed this to the idea that Shah was hearing the expression of India for the first time and couldn't face it. He characterized the ruling establishment as a group of jokers and urged his followers not to be afraid of them, labeling those who succumb to their pressure as cowards.

Finally, Gandhi addressed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He argued that the members of the RSS don't truly understand India. He made a distinction between the India of 3000 years ago and the India of today, suggesting that the RSS is stuck in the past. During the convention, he even asked some people on stage to salute the RSS to make a point about how the organization has been used. Interestingly, he added that if there were ever an attempt to suppress the RSS, the Congress would be ready to protect it, while maintaining that the organization currently lacks a proper understanding of the modern nation.
