Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre Over GenZ Issues, Claims Injustice Against Students

Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has once again intensified his critique of the central government regarding the issues facing the GenZ generation. During a significant interaction on Wednesday, Gandhi asserted that grave injustice has been meted out to the students of the country. He emphasized that the youth have done nothing wrong and expressed his profound gratitude towards them for raising their voices in defense of democracy. The Congress leader's remarks come at a time when student-led movements have been gaining momentum across various platforms.

Allegations of Injustice and State Action

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi spoke extensively on the challenges and treatment of the GenZ population. He stated that while the students were protesting peacefully and didn't resort to any form of violence, they were subjected to harsh measures, including lathi-charges. According to Gandhi, the youth were merely exercising their democratic rights, yet they faced unwarranted aggression from the authorities. He further alleged that goons were sent to the residences of female protesters to intimidate them, a move he condemned in the strongest terms.

Presence of GenZ Protesters

During the press conference, Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by several young individuals from the GenZ demographic who had previously participated in demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. Gandhi highlighted their presence as a testament to their courage. He remarked that by coming forward and speaking in front of the media, these young citizens have shown remarkable bravery. He noted that he had engaged in open and candid conversations with some of these protesters, who shared harrowing accounts of being assaulted, beaten, and threatened by the powers that be.

Pride in the Youth's Resilience

The Leader of the Opposition expressed immense pride in the actions of the young protesters. He stated that he's extremely proud of what these individuals, and thousands of other young Indians like them, have accomplished. According to Gandhi, these students have not just protested for their own rights but have actively defended the Constitution of India. He credited them with protecting the very idea of India and securing the nation's future through their persistence and dedication to democratic values.

Critique of the Education System

Rahul Gandhi also took the opportunity to address the systemic failures within the Indian education sector. He argued that complaining about the education system shouldn't be treated as a criminal act, regardless of whether the system is perceived as broken, collapsing, or ineffective. He stressed that the current system is in dire need of reform and repair. The students, he claimed, were simply demanding these necessary changes. He pointed out the absurdity of the situation where students were attacked and pressured despite not being aggressive. He specifically mentioned a case where a 15 year old girl was allegedly forced to apologize, and the subsequent acceptance of that apology by the authorities was described by him as completely ridiculous.

Demands for Reform and Future Security

The Congress leader called for a complete rejection of the current state of affairs. He articulated a vision for an education system that functions efficiently and transparently. A primary demand highlighted by Gandhi was the immediate cessation of examination paper leaks, which have plagued the aspirations of millions of students. He emphasized that the future of the country must be respected and protected, while however, it was noted that during the interaction, Gandhi appeared to avoid answering a specific question regarding a press conference held by the family members of injured police personnel, focusing instead on the grievances of the student protesters.
