Rajasthan Municipal Elections: SEC Releases Voter List Schedule for 196 Bodies

The Rajasthan State Election Commission has announced the voter list schedule for 196 urban local bodies. The final list will be published on April 22, indicating that elections will likely occur after April.

The Rajasthan State Election Commission (SEC) has officially released the schedule for preparing voter lists across 196 urban local bodies in the state. According to the notification, the final voter list for these bodies will be published on April 22. This development indicates that the municipal elections, covering various Municipal Corporations, Councils, and Municipalities, are likely to be held only after April. The schedule applies to urban bodies situated across 39 districts of Rajasthan.

Detailed Voter List Publication Timeline

As per the schedule released by the commission, the draft publication of the voter list will take place on March 24. From March 25, the lists will be available at designated polling stations within wards for public scrutiny. Citizens can submit their claims and objections regarding the entries until April 7. The commission has mandated the disposal of these claims and objections by April 15. Subsequently, a supplementary voter list will be prepared by April 20, leading to the final publication on April 22.

Compliance with High Court Directives

The State Election Commission cited the directives of the High Court in its official orders. According to officials, the High Court has instructed that the municipal elections be conducted by April 15, 2026. In adherence to these judicial orders, the commission has initiated the necessary administrative groundwork. While the court set a deadline, the current timeline for voter list finalization suggests that the actual polling process will commence following the completion of the list on April 22.

Major Municipal Corporations Involved

The upcoming electoral process will cover several major urban centers in Rajasthan, while elections are scheduled for the Municipal Corporations of Ajmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Alwar, Jodhpur, Kota, and Udaipur. The revision of voter lists in these metropolitan areas is a critical step before the formal announcement of election dates. District election officers have been directed to ensure the accuracy of the data during the 28-day window provided for public feedback.

Coverage of Municipal Councils

In addition to the major corporations, numerous Municipal Councils are included in this schedule. These include Salumbar, Nimbahera, Banswara, Bundi, Baran, Jalore, Balotra, Barmer, Tijara, Khairthal, Behror, Jhunjhunu, Fatehpur, Sikar, Dausa, Shahpura (Jaipur), Sawai Madhopur, Hindaun City, Dholpur, Sujangarh, Churu, Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar, Didwana, Makrana, Beawar, Tonk, Nagaur, and Kishangarh (Ajmer).
