In a major crackdown on corruption within the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC), the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the Chief Manager of the Dausa depot on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Vishram Meena, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The operation was carried out by the ACB's Alwar First unit under the direct supervision of the ACB Headquarters. Director General of Police (ACB), Govind Gupta, confirmed the arrest and stated that the action was taken following a verified complaint from an employee of the corporation.
Details of the ACB Trap Operation
According to official reports, the ACB received a complaint through its dedicated helpline number 1064. The complainant alleged that the Chief Manager was demanding an illegal gratification to process official paperwork. Following the initial report, the ACB team conducted a discreet verification of the demand. Once the demand for the bribe was confirmed through technical and physical surveillance, a trap was laid on Wednesday. The team successfully apprehended Vishram Meena at the moment he accepted the marked currency notes from the complainant.
Bribe Demanded for Medical Leave Approval
The case pertains to the approval of medical leave for the complainant, who had been on sick leave starting December 2025. Upon returning to duty in January 2026, the employee submitted all necessary medical certificates and documentation to the concerned clerk. However, when the complainant approached Chief Manager Vishram Meena on March 25 to obtain the final approval for the leave period, the manager allegedly demanded ₹20,000 to clear the file. The complainant reported that he was being harassed and pressured to pay the amount to avoid administrative hurdles.
Verification of Corruption Charges
The ACB's investigation revealed that the demand for the bribe was persistent. Verification exercises were conducted on April 2 and April 7, during which the accused official reiterated his demand for ₹20,000. These verifications provided the necessary legal grounds for the ACB to proceed with the trap. The Alwar unit of the bureau coordinated the final execution, ensuring that the transaction was documented and the accused was caught with the bribe money in his possession, while the recovered cash has been seized as primary evidence in the case.
Legal Proceedings and Departmental Investigation
Following the arrest, Vishram Meena was taken into custody for further interrogation. The ACB is currently investigating whether other officials or staff members were involved in this bribery ring. Under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, a formal case has been registered. The bureau is also expected to conduct searches at the residence and other properties of the accused to check for any undisclosed assets or evidence of further financial irregularities, while the accused will be produced before the special ACB court for judicial proceedings.
Impact on Rajasthan Roadways Administration
The arrest of a high-ranking official like the Chief Manager has sent shockwaves through the Dausa depot of the Rajasthan Roadways. This action highlights the ongoing efforts of the state's anti-corruption wing to curb malpractice in public departments. RSRTC officials have noted that such incidents tarnish the reputation of the corporation and emphasize the need for stricter monitoring of administrative approvals. The bureau has urged public servants and citizens to continue reporting corrupt practices through official channels to ensure transparency in government functioning.
