Jharkhand | A public interest litigation has been filed in the Jharkhand High Court seeking a probe by the NIA into the incident of violence and nuisance that took place after Friday prayers in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

A division bench of Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad has accepted the petition for hearing and has fixed the date of hearing on Friday, May 17. This petition has been filed by social activist and RTI activist Pankaj Yadav through his advocate Rajiv Kumar.

The petitioner said that on June 10, miscreants in Ranchi resorted to violence. Several religious places in the city were also targeted during the violence by the mob, which hatched a conspiracy to disturb social harmony by raising slogans and pelting stones. When the police tried to stop, the police were also fired upon. It was a well-planned violence, so the entire matter should be investigated by the NIA.
