RIICO Unit Head Arrested: Sr DGM Caught Taking Bribe 20 Days Before Retirement

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jaipur arrested RIICO Senior DGM Anjay Vishwakarma and Junior Assistant Kamlesh Gurjar for accepting a bribe of 85,000 rupees in Ajmer. The arrest occurred just 20 days before the Senior DGM's scheduled retirement on July 31.

In a significant crackdown on corruption within the state's industrial administration, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jaipur team executed a high-profile operation in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The operation led to the arrest of Anjay Vishwakarma, the Unit Head and Senior Deputy General Manager (Sr. DGM) of the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) regional office. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the department, particularly because the senior official was on the verge of concluding his professional career after years of service.

Arrest Just Days Before Retirement

The timing of the arrest is particularly striking and has become a major point of discussion, while senior DGM Anjay Vishwakarma was scheduled to retire from his services on July 31. However, just 20 days before his official retirement date, he was apprehended for his alleged involvement in a serious bribery case. This incident highlights the ACB's commitment to tackling corruption regardless of an official's rank or their remaining tenure in office, while along with the Senior DGM, the ACB also arrested a Junior Assistant named Kamlesh Gurjar, who was posted in Beawar, for his direct involvement in the same bribery scheme.

The Bribery Demand and Trap

The case originated from a complaint filed by an individual who required a lease deed to be issued in the Beawar area. According to the ACB, the accused officials demanded a total bribe of 85,000 rupees to facilitate the processing and approval of the necessary lease deed documents. Unwilling to comply with the illegal demand, the complainant approached the Jaipur ACB and lodged a formal complaint against the RIICO officials. Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB team conducted a discreet and thorough verification of the allegations to ensure the case was solid. Once the demand for the bribe was confirmed through the verification process, a strategic trap was laid to catch the culprits red-handed during the transaction.

Dramatic Raid at the RIICO Office

The operation unfolded with dramatic precision on Friday afternoon. At approximately 12 PM, the complainant entered the Unit Head's cabin at the RIICO regional office located in Vaishali Nagar, Ajmer, carrying the bribe money as per the previous deal. The ACB team had already positioned themselves strategically around the office premises, waiting for the signal. Within minutes of the money being handed over, the ACB team stormed into the cabin and caught the Senior DGM in the act of accepting the illegal gratification. The suddenness and efficiency of the raid caused a significant stir among the staff and visitors at both the Ajmer and Beawar offices.

Recovery of Bribe Money

During the search and seizure following the successful trap, the ACB team recovered the bribe amounts from both officials involved, while a sum of 50,000 rupees was recovered from Senior Deputy General Manager Anjay Vishwakarma. Simultaneously, Junior Assistant Kamlesh Gurjar was caught while accepting his share of 35,000 rupees. The total bribe amount involved in this specific transaction was 85,000 rupees. The ACB has taken both individuals into custody and is proceeding with further legal formalities under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are other instances of such corrupt practices within the regional offices or if other officials were involved in this network.
