The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced on Sunday that schools in the nation's capital may partially reopen from August 9. However, these schools will only reopen for grade 10 and 12 students, according to the DDMA announcement.

On July 28, Delhi Capital Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, called on stakeholders including parents and teachers to reopen educational institutions in the capital, has been closed since March last year, when the first nationwide lockdown was announced to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Schools reopened briefly in January and February this year but were closed again as Delhi was affected by the fourth wave of the Covid19 pandemic. 


Now, due to a decrease in the number of daily cases in the city and concerns about the potential loss of a second school year in a row, students and parents want to be informed about the reopening of schools, Sisodia said. . 4,444 schools in several states have reopened, but only for the upper grades. Several other states have announced that on-campus classes will resume in the coming days. 


Delhi reported 72 new infections, 22 recoveries and one related death in the previous 24 hours on Saturday, according to a health ministry bulletin. According to official data, its cumulative Covid19 workload is 1,436,695.
