INS Vikrant: Indian Navy today achieved a historic milestone in the direction of Atmanirbhar Bharat. On Monday, Navy pilots carried out an LCA (Light Combat Aircraft) landing on INS Vikrant. It is worth noting that this indigenous fighter aircraft demonstrates India's capability to design, develop, build and operate an indigenous aircraft carrier.

LCA Navy's first landing and takeoff

The naval (Navy) version of Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, called LCA Navy, today made its maiden landing and takeoff from India's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The construction of the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant started in the year 2009. It was inducted into service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September last year.

Aircraft carrier INS Vikrant is equipped with these capabilities

Talking about INS Vikrant, it is 262 meters long, 62 meters wide and its height is 59 meters. The carrier has more than 2,300 compartments designed for a crew of about 1,700 people, including special cabins to accommodate women officers. INS Vikrant has a maximum speed of about 28 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots with an endurance of about 7,500 nautical miles.

Can carry 30 fighter jets and helicopters together

With the induction of INS Vikrant, the Navy has two carriers in its fleet for the first time in years, but does not have enough fighter aircraft to keep both warships operational. Explain that INS Vikrant is built at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore and weighs 45,000 tonnes. It was commissioned into the Navy in September last year. It can carry 30 aircraft including MiG-29K fighter jets and helicopters. INS Vikrant is named after its predecessor, which played a key role during the 1971 war against Pakistan for the liberation of Bangladesh.
