Shergarh / Six killed, 60 injured in cooking gas cylinder blast in Jodhpur

Shergarh : Six people were killed and 60 injured when two gas cylinders exploded after leakage before the wedding procession at Bhungra village in Shergarh area of Jodhpur district on Thursday afternoon. This includes the father of the bridegroom and the groom. The condition of 25 people is said to be serious. The whole Dhani got burnt. There was mourning in the wedding ceremony and in the village.

According to police and villagers, Surendra Singh, son of Sagat Singh, son of Poonjraj Singh, resident of Bhungra, is married on Thursday and was supposed to go to Pokhsar village. Shortly before the departure of the procession, at around 1.30 pm, along with the preparation of the bridegroom, the ritual of Net Bharai was being performed in Dhani Chowk. Food was being cooked nearby and many relatives and villagers were eating food.

There was gas leakage in the rear side cylinder. The gas started spreading in the dhani and reached the clothes of the villagers present there. During this, there was a fire due to the spark coming out during the preparation of beedi or food. Two gas cylinders kept in the shed came under fire. which exploded with a bang. The whole house caught fire. There was panic among the people. People started getting scorched as soon as they saw it. Hearing the screams, the nearby villagers came to the spot and extinguished the fire by pouring mud and water etc. A fire engine from Jodhpur also reached the spot. 60 injured were taken to government hospitals in Shergarh and Setrava.
